This climb has a lot going for it – a smaller climb up the Col duTelegraphe followed by a quick downhill (too quick really) then the long climb up to Galibier which goes from forested valley to grassy slopes then into the high alpine scree terrain. It’s great going past other cyclists as you get up to the higher reaches, one who you see briefly climbing off as the gradient gets more unrelenting. The presentation is excellent with good widescreen picture quality, the HUD at the top of the screen and side giving all the information you need about the route and the soundtrack is suitably trancy – featuring the Chemical Brothers and even the Eurthymics remixed. A great accompaniment to a static bike or turbo training session, properly motivating and quite uplifting when you eventually get to the summit. A few different angles of view would make it even better but purely as a pov on the grind of a very hard climb, it works really well.
